Forklift Maintenance Regulations
Nov 19 , 2024
In order to make the daily operation of 10 ton forklift normal and reliable, it is necessary to adhere to the principle of prevention first to institutionalize, standardize and scientificize the maintenance of forklifts. Therefore, equipment management personnel must formulate regulations for forklift maintenance to perform necessary maintenance work on forklifts at regular intervals to improve the efficiency of clamp forklift use. The specific maintenance regulations can be referred to as follows:
Forklift maintenance is divided into four categories, namely daily maintenance, primary maintenance, and secondary maintenance
1. Daily maintenance, after each shift.
2. Primary technical maintenance, after the engine has accumulated 150 hours of operation, the internal combustion forklift with less than 150 hours of working time per year shall undergo primary maintenance once a year.
3. Secondary technical maintenance, after the engine has accumulated 450 hours of operation, the internal combustion forklift with less than 450 hours of working time every three years shall undergo secondary maintenance every three years.
1. Daily maintenance
1. Clean the dirt, mud and dirt on the forklift, the key parts are: fork frame and mast slide, generator and starter, battery electrode fork column, water tank, air filter.
2. Check the tightness of each part, with the focus on: fork frame support, lifting chain tensioning screws, wheel screws, wheel fixing pins, brakes, and steering screws.

3. Check the reliability and flexibility of the steering gear.

4. Check the leakage, with the focus on: various pipe joints, diesel tanks, engine oil tanks, brake pumps, lifting cylinders, tilting cylinders, water tanks, water pumps, engine oil pans, torque converters, transmissions, drive axles, main reducers, hydraulic steering gears, and steering cylinders.

5. Tire pressure check: If insufficient, add to the specified value to confirm that there is no leakage. Check whether the tire contact surface and side are damaged, and whether the rim is deformed.

6. Brake fluid and water volume check: Check whether the brake fluid is within the scale range, and check whether there is air mixed in the brake line. When adding brake fluid, prevent dust and water from mixing. When adding water to the forklift water tank, use clean tap water. If antifreeze is used, add the same antifreeze. When the water temperature is higher than 70℃, do not open the water tank cover. When opening the cover, put a thin cloth under it and do not twist the water tank cover with gloves.
7. Check the engine oil, hydraulic oil and electrolyte: first pull out the oil dipstick, wipe the dipstick head, insert it and then pull it out to check whether the oil level is between the two scale lines. The oil level in the working oil tank should be between the two scale lines; if there is too little oil, air will be mixed into the pipeline, and if there is too much oil, it will overflow from the cover. The battery electrolyte should also be between the upper and lower scale lines. If it is insufficient, add distilled water to the top line.
8. Check the brake pedal, micro pedal, clutch pedal and hand brake: step on each pedal to check whether there is abnormal sluggishness or jamming. The force of the hand brake handle should be less than 300N to confirm that the hand brake is safe and reliable.
9. Check the belt, horn, light, instrument, etc.: Check whether the belt tightness meets the regulations. If there is no adjustment margin or it is damaged and cracked, it must be replaced; the horn, light and instrument should be normal and effective.
10. Remove the oil filter sediment.

II. First-level technical maintenance
Perform the "daily maintenance" items and add the following work.
1. Check the cylinder pressure or vacuum.
2. Check and adjust the valve clearance.
3. Check whether the thermostat works normally.
4. Check whether the multi-way reversing valve, lifting cylinder, tilting cylinder, steering cylinder and gear pump work normally.
5. Check whether the gear shift of the transmission works normally.
6. Check and adjust the clearance between the brake pads and the brake drum of the hand and foot brakes.
7. Replace the oil in the oil pan, check whether the crankcase ventilation pipe is intact, and clean the oil filter and diesel filter element.
8. Check whether the generator and starter motor are installed firmly, whether the terminal is clean and firm, and check whether the carbon brushes and commutator are worn.
9. Check the tightness of the fan belt.
10. Check whether the wheel is installed firmly, whether the tire pressure meets the requirements, and remove the debris embedded in the tread.
11. When the parts are disassembled for maintenance work, the forklift should be road tested after reassembly.
1) Braking performance under different degrees should not be deflected or snaking. On steep slopes, the handbrake can be pulled tight to stop the vehicle reliably.
2) Listen to the engine running under acceleration, deceleration, heavy load or no load, etc., to see if there is any abnormal sound.
3) After a certain mileage of road test, check whether the brake, transmission, front axle housing and gear pump are overheated.
4) Whether the lifting speed of the fork frame is normal and whether there is any shaking.
12) Check whether the diesel tank oil inlet filter is blocked or damaged, and clean or replace the filter.
III. Secondary technical maintenance
In addition to the items of primary technical maintenance, the following work is added:
1. Clean each oil tank, filter and pipeline, and check for corrosion and cracking. After cleaning, do not wipe with yarn heads or cloth with fibers.
2. Clean the torque converter and transmission, check the wear of parts, and replace new oil.
3. Check the drive shaft bearings and change the direction of the universal joint cross shaft as needed.
4. Check the tightness of each part of the drive axle and whether there is oil leakage, and clear the air holes. Disassemble and inspect the main reducer, differential, and wheel reducer, adjust the axial clearance of the bearings, and add or replace lubricating oil.
5. Disassemble, adjust and lubricate the front and rear wheel hubs, and perform half-axle transposition.
6. Clean the brakes and adjust the clearance between the brake drum and the brake shoe friction plate.
7. Clean the steering gear and check the free rotation of the steering wheel.
8. Disassemble and clean the gear oil pump, and pay attention to check the wear of the gears, housing and bearings.
9. Disassemble the multi-way valve and check the clearance between the valve stem and the valve body. Do not disassemble the safety valve if it is not necessary.
10. Check whether the steering knuckle is damaged or cracked, the matching of the steering axle kingpin and the steering knuckle, and disassemble and inspect the wear of the longitudinal and transverse tie rods and the joints of the steering arm.
11. Disassemble the tires, remove the rust and paint the rims, check the inner and outer tires and cushion belts, replace them and inflate them as required.
12. Check the connection and tightness of the hand brake parts, and adjust the working stroke of the hand brake lever and foot brake pedal.
13. Check the battery liquid specific gravity. If it does not meet the requirements, it must be removed and charged.
14. Clean the water tank and oil radiator.
15. Check whether the shelf and frame are deformed, disassemble and wash the rollers, and whether the accessories are fixed reliably. If necessary, re-weld them.
16. Disassemble and inspect the lifting cylinder, tilt cylinder and steering cylinder, and replace worn seals.
17. Check the sensors, fuses and various switches of each instrument, and adjust them if necessary.
