The electrolyte of heavy forklift batteries contains sulfuric acid, which will produce hydrogen gas when working or standing still. Improper handling may cause serious injury or fire, so the following precautions must be observed:
First, precautions for using forklift batteries.
1. The forklift starter should not be used for more than 5 seconds at a time, and the interval between two uses should not be less than 15 seconds. If the starter is used three times in a row, and the forklift engine still cannot be started, stop using it and find out the reason.
2. Check the electrolyte level regularly. When the electrolyte is close to the "lower liquid level", distilled water should be added to make the liquid level 10-15mm higher than the electrode plate, but when it does not exceed the "upper liquid level", distilled water should be added to make the liquid level 10-15mm higher than the electrode plate. But do not exceed the "upper level". According to different seasons, adjust the electrolyte density in time. Adding electrolyte should be done in a dust-free environment as much as possible to prevent dust from entering the forklift battery.
3. Special forklift battery acid and distilled water must be used to prepare the electrolyte. Industrial sulfuric acid and tap water are strictly prohibited.
4. It is forbidden for all fire sources to be close to the battery.
5. When you need to touch the forklift battery, you should wear safety glasses and rubber gloves.
6. If the electrolyte in the forklift battery splashes into your eyes, you should immediately rinse with plenty of water and go to the hospital for treatment immediately.
7. If you accidentally drink electrolyte, you should drink plenty of water, milk, raw eggs or cooking oil, and go to the hospital for help immediately.
8. If the electrolyte in the battery splashes onto your clothes or body, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
9. Before performing work related to the forklift battery, the engine fire should be extinguished.
10. When repairing the electrical system or performing welding operations on the machine, remove the negative pole of the forklift battery to prevent leakage.
11. Avoid short-circuiting the positive and negative terminals of the forklift battery due to accidental contact with metal objects (such as tools).
12. Pay attention to anti-vibration when transporting, and the forklift battery should be firmly fixed on the vehicle.
13. When disassembling the forklift battery, first disconnect the negative terminal. When installing the forklift battery, first connect the positive terminal and tighten the nut.
14. If the electrolyte of the forklift battery has frozen, do not charge the battery or use other power sources to start the engine. This will cause the forklift battery to shut down. When charging or using other power sources to start the engine, Before starting, the electrolyte of the battery must be dissolved to ensure there is no leakage.
Second, maintenance of forklift batteries.
1. Always wipe off the dust and dirt on the cover, wire connectors and poles, tighten the connectors, apply protective agent, and ensure that the vent hole on the filling hole cover is unobstructed. When cleaning the top surface of the forklift battery, remember not to use organic solvents or detergents such as gasoline.
2. After tightening the forklift battery top cover, if the sealing glue is found to be broken, repair it in time.
3. Check the discharge status of the forklift battery frequently to keep the forklift battery in a sufficient state. It should be recharged every 1-2 months. If the battery is not handled properly during maintenance and charging, there is a risk of explosion.
4. It is necessary to correctly grasp the timing of charging the new LPG forklift battery. For example, when the start is weak (not caused by mechanical failure), the headlight is dim, the lighting power is insufficient, the electrolyte density drops below 1.2, the discharge exceeds 50% in summer, and the discharge exceeds 50% in winter. If the discharge exceeds 255, it should be recharged in time.
