Precautions for Forklift Operation
Dec 04 , 2024
Forklifts are industrial transport vehicles that greatly improve the transportation efficiency of loading and unloading, stacking and short-distance transportation of palletized goods.
However, as special equipment in factories, forklifts have always been a high-incidence point for safety accidents. The following are precautions for forklift operation, welcome to read.
1 Before and after the construction forklift operation, the appearance should be checked, and fuel, lubricating oil and cooling water should be added.
2. Check the starting, operation and braking safety performance.
3. Check whether the lights and horn signals are complete and effective.
4. During the operation of the forklift, the pressure and temperature should be checked to see if they are normal.
5. After the forklift is running, the leakage should also be checked and the seals should be replaced in time.
Starting
1 Before starting, observe the surroundings and confirm that there are no obstacles that hinder driving safety. Then blow the horn first and start.
2. For vehicles with hydraulic (pneumatic) brakes, the brake hydraulic (pneumatic) gauge must reach safety before starting.
3. When the forklift starts with loads, the driver should first confirm that the load is stable and reliable.
4. The start must be slow and steady.
Driving
1. When driving, the height of the bottom of the fork should be maintained at 300-400mm from the ground, and the mast must be tilted backward.
2. The fork must not be raised too high when driving. When entering and exiting the work site or driving, pay attention to whether there are obstacles in the air. When carrying goods, the fork must not be raised too high, which will affect the stability of the forklift.
3. After unloading, the fork should be lowered to the normal driving position before driving.
4. When turning, if there are pedestrians or vehicles nearby, the driving signal should be issued first. High-speed sharp turns are prohibited, which will cause the vehicle to lose lateral stability and overturn.
5. It is strictly forbidden to turn off the engine and slide when driving downhill. It is forbidden to brake suddenly when carrying goods unless there are special circumstances.
6. The forklift must comply with the traffic rules in the factory when running, and must maintain a certain safe distance from the vehicle in front.
7. When the electric counterbalance forklift is running, the load must be in the lowest position that does not hinder driving, and the mast should be tilted backward appropriately. Except for stacking or loading, the load must not be raised.
8. The height of the load must not block the driver's sight. In special cases, when the items affect the forward sight, the vehicle must be driven at a low speed when reversing.
9. It is forbidden to turn on the ramp, and it should not be driven across the ramp.
10. The safe driving speed of the forklift in the factory area is 5 km/h. It must be driven safely at a low speed when entering the production workshop area.
11. When the forklift is lifting, lifting or driving, personnel are prohibited from standing on the forks to balance special items.
12. When problems are found, they should be repaired and reported in time, and they should never be operated with problems or concealed.
Loading and unloading
1. When forking items, the distance between the two forks should be adjusted as needed to balance the load of the two forks, and they should not be skewed. One side of the item should be close to the object blocking rack.
2. It is forbidden to operate with a single fork or use the fork to lift or pull objects. In special cases, safety warning signs must be set up to remind pedestrians around when pulling objects.
3. During the loading and unloading process of items, the forklift must be braked with brakes.
4. The vehicle speed should be slow and steady, and be careful not to roll over the objects and wooden blocks, so as to avoid the objects being rolled up and injuring people.
5. When using a fork to pick up goods, the fork should be inserted as deep as possible under the load, and the fork tip should not touch other goods or objects. The minimum mast tilt should be used to stabilize the load to prevent the load from sliding backwards. When putting down the load, the mast can be tilted forward a small amount to facilitate the placement of the load and the withdrawal of the fork.
6. It is forbidden to pick up goods at high speed and use the fork head to collide with hard objects.
7. When the forklift is working, people are prohibited from standing around the fork to avoid the collapse of the goods and injuring people.
8. It is forbidden to overload, and it is forbidden to use the fork to lift people to work at heights to avoid accidents of falling from heights.
9. It is not allowed to use the brake inertia to slide, release, round or easy-to-roll objects.
10. It is not allowed to unload goods by picking, turning or palleting with forks.
Leaving the forklift
1. Do not leave the forklift when the forks are suspended. Before leaving the forklift, you must unload the goods or lower the forks.
2. Pull the parking brake handle to the bottom or press the handbrake switch.
3. Turn off the engine and power. (Except for special circumstances, such as the driver does not leave the vehicle's sight and does not exceed 1 minute).
4. Remove the key.
Safety operation specifications for forklifts
1. Check before driving:
2. If there is someone in front of you during driving, you should give a signal 5m away;
3. The driving speed in the factory shall not exceed 15km/h, and the speed shall not exceed 10km/h in other complex areas such as factory gates, elevators, turns, crowded areas, narrow passages, etc.;
4. The lowest point of the cargo should be 0.3m~0.4m from the ground during driving:
5. Turning should not be too sharp to prevent the tendency of "free turning";
6. Going up and down the slope should be slow and at a constant speed, and turning on the slope is not allowed
7. Do not drive across the slope. When the slope is greater than 10%, reverse driving should be carried out when going downhill:
8. When the forklift operator is carrying goods forward, if large or heavy goods are in the driver's sight, reverse driving should be adopted Use.
The "Eight Prohibitions" should be observed during operation.
1. Single fork operation is not allowed.
2. It is not allowed to lift the goods for long distances.
3. It is not allowed to pick up goods by flipping the pallet with a fork.
4. It is not allowed to directly shovel chemicals, flammables and other hazardous chemicals with a fork.
5. It is not allowed to pick up goods by inertia.
6. It is not allowed to use braking force to release round or easy-to-roll objects.
7. It is not allowed to carry people on the pallet or fork. It is strictly forbidden to stand under the fork after the fork is raised.
8. It is not allowed to drive horizontally on the sloping road.
Stop in the following situations
1. Curves, narrow roads, railway crossings:
2. Road sections with a longitudinal slope greater than 5%.
3. When there is an obstacle on one side of the road, the opposite side of the section with the same length as the obstacle is within 20 meters at both ends.
