Forklift Safety Operation Procedures Forklift Safety Operation Specifications
Driving Specifications
•Driver training: The driver must hold a 5 ton forklift driving certificate issued by the labor department; the characteristics of the brakes, accelerators and hydraulic joysticks of each forklift with the same technical parameters may be different. The driver should drive the forklift after being familiar with the various operations.
•Wear when driving a forklift: Wear appropriate personal protective equipment. For safety, please do not wear loose clothes to avoid being hung.
•Must follow the rules: Do not drive a hydraulic forklift when you are tired, distracted, have used anesthetics or drunk alcohol.
•Workplace safety: Make sure the working environment is in a safe condition, including good road conditions and adequate lighting.
•Keep the forklift, especially the cab, clean: Do not put tools or other items in the cab to avoid hindering the movement of the joystick or pedals; Do not operate the forklift when your hands are greasy. It is dangerous to operate a forklift when your hands are wet or greasy.
• Check the safety conditions around the forklift: Before starting the forklift, make sure that there is no one around the forklift; when carrying large cargo and the visibility is poor, please drive in reverse or be guided by others; when driving in reverse, make sure that there is no one around the forklift; when driving a forklift in a narrow passage, someone should guide it; the driver should stop at an intersection or other places where the vision is blocked, and make sure that there is no one on the left and right of the forklift before driving; forklifts are different from cars. They are rear-wheel steering. When approaching the turning point, reduce the driving speed and then turn the steering wheel to turn the rear of the forklift.
• Getting on and off the forklift: It is forbidden to jump on and off the forklift. When getting on and off the forklift, hold the handle with your hands and step on the pedals with your feet; when getting on and off the forklift, do not grab the steering wheel or joystick.
• It is forbidden to carry people on the forklift: It is strictly forbidden to carry people on the forks or pallets. No one other than the driver is allowed to ride; do not use people to replace the counterweight.
• Prohibit driving recklessly: Do not turn on the key switch when the accelerator pedal is depressed; Do not start, brake or turn suddenly to prevent the cargo from falling and the forklift from overturning; Do not run over baffles or obstacles scattered on the road; Do not drive on soft ground; When driving on wet, slippery, uneven or inclined roads, please reduce the driving speed; Make sure there is a certain gap between the mast and the roof and the entrance and exit.
• Prohibit driving with the fork raised: Do not drive the forklift when the fork is raised to prevent the cargo from falling and the forklift from overturning.
• Do not drive by the roadside: Make sure there is a safe distance between the forklift and the roadside or the edge of the platform to prevent the forklift from falling.
• Forklift maintenance: Do not modify the forklift, and perform daily and regular inspections in accordance with the user guide; When the forklift is damaged or faulty, stop operating the forklift for maintenance; Do not operate the forklift before it is thoroughly overhauled; When checking the electrical system, turn off the key switch and unplug the battery plug.
Operation Specifications
• Overloading is prohibited: Forklifts can only carry goods with a weight below the rated lifting weight; when carrying overload, the rear wheels are very likely to leave the ground, and at this time, the steering cannot be controlled, which can easily lead to accidents.
• Stacking with uneven loads is prohibited: When stacking with a forklift, it is necessary to ensure that the goods are discharged safely and stably, and the forks must be accurately inserted into the pallet, while keeping the center of gravity of the goods consistent with the center of the forklift, otherwise it is easy to cause the goods to fall and the forklift to overturn.
• Over-height of goods is prohibited: The height of the goods cannot exceed the shelf, otherwise it is easy to cause the goods to slide toward the operator, and the driver may be injured by the goods.
• Carrying overlong and over-wide goods: When carrying overlong and over-wide goods, be particularly careful when driving, slow down, turn and lift slowly; pay attention to the balance of the goods, and try to lower the goods; be equipped with appropriate lengthened and widened fork frames; use pallets of appropriate size and strength to carry the goods; ensure that the goods are fixed on the pallet and have a suitable shape. When the goods are over-wide, be careful to avoid hitting objects on both sides of the roadside when driving.
• It is forbidden to work with the fork tip: Do not use the fork tip to push or lift the goods. When using the fork tip to push or lift the goods, it may cause the forklift or the goods to shake.
• Pushing and pulling operations are prohibited: Do not push or pull the goods with the forklift, otherwise the goods may be damaged or fall.
• Avoidance: It is forbidden to stand on the goods to pass under the shelf.
• Make the goods stable: When the forklift is driving, the mast tilts back to stabilize the goods; when driving (with or without load), the distance between the fork and the ground should be kept at 150-200 mm.
• It is forbidden to enter the mast mechanism: It is forbidden to enter any part of the body between the mast and the vehicle body; the joystick should be operated in the correct operating position; when the joystick hooks the body or clothes, the mast may move, and there is a risk of injury to the hands and feet; when operating the forklift, please place the body under the overhead guard, and no part of the body is allowed to extend outside the vehicle body.
• It is forbidden to operate the handle suddenly: Whether it is fully loaded or unloaded, the hydraulic control handle must be operated slowly; when the fork is at a high position, if the handle is suddenly operated, it will cause the danger of falling or overturning of the forklift; do not stop or lower the shelf suddenly.
• When the mast is tilted forward, the shelf is forbidden to rise: before lifting the goods or starting the forklift, the mast should be tilted back to stabilize the goods; the mast cannot be tilted forward when the forklift is in the state of forklift; when lifting the goods, the car should be stopped first; when the forklift is in a tilted state, do not load or unload the goods.
• It is forbidden to tow the forklift: when the brake or steering system fails, it cannot be towed by another forklift, otherwise, unpredictable accidents are prone to occur.
• It is forbidden to change the purpose of the forklift at will. It is forbidden to use the forklift for purposes other than those specified; do not tie the goods to the shelf with ropes and lift them with a forklift; when lifting the goods with the fork, appropriate accessories should be equipped; the forklift cannot be used as a tractor for towing operations.
Precautions after work
• Before leaving the forklift: the mast tilts forward slightly, the forks are lowered naturally, and there is a risk of tripping and injury if the forks are not lowered to the ground; the steering handle is placed in the neutral position; the parking brake handle is pulled; the key switch is turned off and the key is removed.
• Parking at designated places: the parking place must be strong enough; parking should not hinder traffic safety; parking is not allowed near fire hydrants or places that affect fire passages; parking is prohibited in places with flammable materials or near places; do not park on slopes.
• Charging: prevent the charging equipment from getting damp, and the ventilation conditions at the charging place should be good to dissipate the odor generated in the battery; when charging the forklift battery, the charging mark should be made; when charging the battery, the positive and negative poles cannot be connected in reverse; excessive discharge is prohibited, and the forklift should not be used until it cannot move before stopping. When the battery capacity alarm indicator flashes continuously, the battery needs to be charged.
